Different records answer different questions
A product identity assessment and a chromatographic purity result serve different purposes. When preparing a project, ask for the relevant result, method context and acceptance requirement rather than requesting a generic “quality certificate” without defining its scope.
Prepare a deliverables matrix
- The property or identity question to be assessed.
- The requested method or the need for a proposed method.
- The result format and supporting data required.
- The agreed acceptance requirement, where applicable.
- Any assessment that is specifically outside the quoted scope.
A named test should not be assumed to cover unrelated properties. Clarify whether additional requirements affect feasibility, timing or the quotation.
Use references without borrowing capability claims
Supplier references can help identify terminology. For example, Bachem distinguishes standard and additional analytical services. That illustrates why a buyer should specify deliverables; it is not evidence that another supplier offers the same methods.
Confirm the final package
Ask which records accompany the proposed supply and when they are available for review. Keep any agreed exclusions visible in the approval record. Product availability, analytical scope and project acceptance require a specific written response.
